A Smaller, Travel-Sized Version
Hey, I forgot to mention
I wanted to extend an invite to you!

If any of you are interested in my upcoming 3 1/2 months in Japan, feel friend me at yohjideranged .

I plan to post pictures and experiences there.

Anyway, I thought I would extend the invite to those that may be interested. I leave for Japan on August 31!

Are you doing JET? (Guessing from the time frame...)

I see, study abroad, (makes more sense for the time frame, heh)

What school and city will you be at?

A few months ago I was cheking this journal because it's usually the first place I go when I want to find a specific WK picture, and the links were down...I'd thought you'd abandoned this (and was sad!)...I see they're all working now and I'm realy glad to hear you have plans to keep adding to it. ^__^

Yep. Study abroad. It is an intensive language and culture study for my degrees (history and anthropology with concentration on East Asia).

I am going with the Japan Center for Michigan Universities located in Hikone. The school is right off Biwako and quick train ride from Kyoto and Otsu.

I haven't really abandoned it so much as life got in the way. My family was hit really hard with the economic downturn and have had to sort of put more effort into serious business rather than fandom. Hopefully this will turn around this year - prospects seem good.

I totally understand life getting in the way, I often disappear for long stretches myself, I'm just glad to hear you're back(ish). ^___^

Your study abroad is going to be awesome!!! I studied at Kansai Gaidai in Hirikata City several years ago (I think it was also through Michigan somehow, actually.) It was a quick train ride from Kyoto too, and that is my very most favorite place in the entire world.

Definitely check out these places:
Fushimi Inari Shrine (my favorite!!)
Kiyomizu temple

If you make it to Osaka (an easy trip from Kyoto but I'm not sure how far it is from Hikone) make sure to check out here: http://www.mandarake.co.jp/en/shop/osk.html
It's dangerous though. :D

I'm really looking forawrd to your pictures! I wish I'd had my LJ when I was there, I didn't document things nearly well enough.
